Space is really in focus right now with the hype around the Artemis II mission and deservedly so! So many first were done on this mission designed as a stepping stone to get us back on to the moon. For Christina Koch, there were a lot of records and historic firsts put into place. The Six is adapted for young readers and tells the story and challenges of Sally Ride and the other first female American astronauts. It’s a great story that honors the legacy that started in the 1960s and has transformed both STEM fields and NASA. We have one copy in the library– check it out today!

Ordinary Mary’s Extraordinary Deed 12/12/25

Ordinary Mary’s Extraordinary Deed

Ordinary Mary’s Extraordinary Deed by Emily Pearson is the selection for our Whale Wishes Winter Giving assembly this year. Last read in 2018, this book celebrates the concept of paying it forward to show how one simple act of kindness can change a lot of people’s days. Although many of the students have heard it before, it’s a great reminder that it’s always okay to be kind, and there’s always time to show kindness. We have a couple copies in the library, so if you are looking to read it again, just ask!

I'M SORRY YOU GOT MAD 12/5/25

The image shows a young child sitting at a table, surrounded by scattered papers, with a large text overlay that reads %22I'M SORRY YOU GOT MAD%22.

As we all know, tensions can run high during the holiday season. Everything can feel rushed and we forget that it can be stressful for our students, too.  In the hilarious, yet deeply touching I’m Sorry You Got Mad, Jack goes through a progression of apology notes that really speak to what it means to confront your behavior. I really think this book is great for any age, though our older students (and grownups!) will appreciate it a little more. Lots of connection opportunities to our own lives, along with the idea of taking responsibility makes this one of my favorite books of the YEAR.  It will most likely be a Monarch nominee next year, so get on the train early and check it out today! 🙂 (I’m sorry if you don’t like it.)
